HOPE’s Street Vans travel to areas in the Perth and Goldfields regions where young people congregate on weekends and after school.
Street Vans provide a healthy, safe environment where young people are welcome to engage – there are games, crafts, music, fun, and cool drinks in the summer, and blankets and beanies in the winter.
Staff and volunteers at Street Vans provide information about misues of alcohol and other drugs, emphasising ways to minimise harm, including safer using, reducing use, and not using at all.
Other subjects include mental health, physical health, including sexual health, support and referrals, and healthy activities such as arts and crafts, basketball, volley ball and badminton.
Street Vans are one of the ways people can support HOPE through volunteering.
